Enmore XI, BOG score convincing wins at tapeball

Enmore XI, Bank of Guyana (BOG) and Finewood Marketing Inc. scored convincing victories as the 2009 Guyana Softball and Windball Cricket Association (GS&WCA) sponsored 15/15 Tapeball cricket tournament got off to a flying start last weekend at the GS&WCA ground on Carifesta Avenue.

On Saturday, Enmore X1 crushed TDI Challengers by 68 runs. Batting first Enmore rattled up 131-5 off their allotted 15 overs with Feroze Jafferally top scoring with 42 while Rehaz Yacoob supported with 33.

TDI Challengers were skittled out for 64 in their reply with Kelvin Singh top scoring with 37.

Bank of Guyana brushed aside Faith XI by seven wickets.

Faith XI were bundled out for 125 with Adrian Tinny being the leading scorer with 34.

The Central Bank side, led by skipper Ken Alphonso,  who slammed 71 hit off the required runs for the loss of three wickets.

And, Georgetown Public Hospital was on the receiving end against Finewood Marketing Inc. who won handsomely by eight wickets.

Batting first the Hospital side were bowled out for a paltry 54 off 8.2 overs with Javin Marino bagging the first five-wicket haul in the competition. He claimed 5-5.

Finewood,  in their turn at the crease, scored 58-2.

Lee Davis was left unbeaten on 16.

Dyna’s Bravado scored a cliff-hanger win over Camex Challengers after their encounter was decided in the super over following a tie after regular play.

Batting first, Bravado made 109-8 with Alex Culley and Seon Sertimer each scoring 19.

Challengers in reply also made 109-8 forcing the super over in which Bravado made 8 and Challengers 6.

On Sunday, Neal and Massy eliminated Ocean XI with an eight-wicket win.

Batting first, Ocean XI were bundled out for 67 and Neal and Massy replied with 68 for 5 with Mohamed Saffie scoring 20 and Mark Singh 11.

The leading bowlers for Neal and Massy were Lakhan Mohamed and Singh with figures of 2-7 and 2-11 respectively.

The tournament continues this weekend with eight more matches at the same venue.

On Saturday, Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) will battle  Falcon while Mocha will oppose Terrance X1 both at 09:00 hours.

At 13:00 hours, Republic Bank will tackle Farfan and Mendes while Mercenary will take on Strikers.

Guyana Water Inc. (GWI) will challenge Hawkeye and GNSC will oppose Ghost Riders at 15:30 hours.

On Sunday, Queenstown will meet Outlaws at 13:00 hours and Friendship will play Knight Riders.
