Spready’s Bakery 2009 U-19, 50-Over Cricket Competition

Pepsi Rose Hall Town and Port Mourant A both won their latest Zone C (Lower and Central Corentyne) preliminary matches to earn a spot in the quarterfinal of the Spready’s Bakery U-19 Cricket Competition in Berbice.

Their performances placed them as the first and second runners-up to Albion Community Centre in Zone C respectively.

Eon Hopper with an unbeaten half century led the way for Rose Hall against Kildonan who were defeated by 91 runs while Mark Bheemsingh who also registered a half century spearheaded his team to a comfortable victory against Kildonan also.

At Rose Hall ground, RHT crushed Kildonan by 91 runs in the match which was reduced to 25 overs-a-side because of rain. The eventual victors pushed up to 169 – 5 in their allotted overs with Hooper contributing a sterling 52 while being supported by Dominique Rickie (28).

In reply, Kildonan crumbled to 78 all out in 18 overs with Chunilall Mankarran being the only batsman to reach double figures with 31 while Loyddel Lewis and Stephen Lawson took 3-6 and 2-20 respectively.

Over at Bush Lot Farm, Port Mourant A defeated Kildonan by 48 runs after batting first and posting a total of 219 in 39.1 overs. Bheemsingh top scored with 66 while he received assistance from Bisham Persaudie (44) and Sasenarine Ernest (30) as Chunilall Mankarran took 3-36 and Bharrat Singh 2-39 for Kildonan.

Kildonan made 171 all out in 26.2 overs with Navindra Ramnarine, Tamesh Singh and Jagdeo Somwar contributing scores of 35, 30 and 29 while Yougeshwar Singh bagged 3-16.

In other results, Port Mourant A beat Port Mourant B by 41 runs, and Guysuco Training Centre (GTC) beat Rose Hall Town Metro by 39 runs in their match which was reduced to 20 overs-a-side.
