Police and Transport end in tame draw

Police and Transport Sports Club (TSC) played to a tame draw in the Cellink second division tournament at the Eve Leary ground on Sunday.

After winning the toss, Police took first strike and amassed  307 in their first innings with Lyndon Wilson (65) and Bwayne McPherson (59) making valuable half centuries.  In reply, TSC were dismissed for 202, trailing by 105 runs on  first innings. TSC’s main contributors were Azim Azeez, the game’s top scorer with 87, and Kerwin Gittens who made 36. Wilson was among the wickets sharing five wickets with Jason Heyligar.
Earlier, Shaun Massiah threw down 21 overs and picked up three wickets for 105 runs, including the scalp of McPherson. Clyde Hoyte claimed two wickets.

In their second stint at the crease Police reached 144-7, setting TSC a target of 249 for victory. However, at stumps TSC only managed to reach 126-5, giving a Police a win on  first innings.

For Police, Mooniram Persaud (63) shared in an important partnership of 106 in the second innings with Troy Benn who made 41.

Azeez took four wickets while Imtiaz Pooran grabbed three for TSC. Play in the competition will continue next weekend.
