GFA Tournaments

As another terrific day of football concluded, five under-13 teams reigned victorious in the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) organized Chubby-sponsored Football Tournament at the Tucville playfield on Sunday.

Georgetown Football Club (GFC) sank Pele 6–0, Fruta Conquerors conquered Alpha United 4–0, Sunburst Camptown got past Thomas United 1–0, Flamingo defeated Renaissance 3–0 and Santos brushed aside Riddim Squad 3–1.

Shaman Barrow (15th and 36th) and Roger Allen (40th and 58th) led the way for GFC with a doubles while being supported by Jamal James who scored in the first minute and Colin Hinds who scored in the 64th minute.

Al Fraser recorded a double for Conquerors in the 16th and 37th minutes while Pollard and Johnson  helped with goals in the 58th and 65th minutes respectively as they kept the opposition from scoring.

The goals scored by Martin Betel (15th) and Kevin Andrews (30th) for Camptown overshadowed the Kareem Joseph goal scored in the 20th minute for Thomas United.

Renaissance were demolished by the attack led by Orlando Ricketts who scored in the 45th and 58th for Flamingo and was supported by Sheldon Fletcher who found the back of the net in the 31st.

The Santos/Riddim Squad battle had Selah Roberts, Jerome Liddell and Selah Rogers scoring in the 17th, 19th and 56th minutes while Omali Henry scored a consolation goal for the oapposition.

Western Union First Division

Later in the day, Black Pearl and Huston Stars engaged in battle in a first division showdown where Huston Stars got the better of their opponents 3–1.

Black Pearl drew first blood as early as the 14th minute through a Jason Clarke strike then Huston Stars equalized ten minutes later when Deron McKennon found the back of the net.

The resumption of the second half saw Jermaine Gilbert scoring in quick succession (48th and 57th) to take the game away from Black Pearl.
Cellink Plus Premier League

On Friday evening, Alpha United suffered their first loss of the Cellink Plus Premier League Tournament at the Tucville playfield as Pele stuck them up 1–0 in the match which was replayed after being abandoned.

Like the previous showdown, Pele caused the tournament leaders some trouble early on and drew first blood again from a Marvin Joseph first half strike from which  Alpha could not recover.
