Dolphin Secondary, East Ruimveldt and St Mary’s record easy wins

Ministry of Education/ GCB Under-15 tourney

Dolphin Secondary, East Ruimveldt and St Mary’s recorded easy wins in the Ministry of Education/Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) 40-over Inter-Secondary Schools Under-15 tournament in the North and South Georgetown branches.

In the South Georgetown branch match between Central High and Dolphin Secondary schools at the Malteenoes Sports Club Ground, Dolphin took first strike and made 215 all out from 34.1 overs and romped home to beat their opponents by 151 runs. Central High was bundled out for a paltry 64 runs in 11 overs.

Dolphin’s batting line-up included Brandon Gouveia who scored 31, Deonarine Seegobin 29, Randelly Dazell 28 and Keemo Vanderhyden contributed 23. Central’s main bowlers were Shawn Garnette and Hanisi Chandler who took two wickets apiece while Shivarj Parmanand, Samuel Fraser and Shaka Brown had one wicket each.

Samuel Fraser made 17 for Central and he was the only batsman to reach double figures. Romain Nepaul scored 3-18 from four overs, Deonarine Seegobin 2-4 from one over and Richard Suratee and Sachin Prasad took one wicket each.

Still in South Georgetown, East Ruimveldt Secondary defeated Lodge Community High School at the GNIC Ground by 58 runs. East Ruimveldt batted first and made 123 all-out in 17.2 overs and skittled out Lodge for 65 from 9.5 overs.

Batting for East Ruimveldt, Mark Sargeant top-scored with 37. He was supported by Andrew Gibson (19) and Wayne Yansen (17). Cordel Mars and Glensroy Munroe were the pick of the bowlers for Lodge with 3-29 from four overs and 3-15 from three overs respectively. Kevin Lord was the main supporting bowler with 2-14 from three overs.

Devon Lord top-scored with 15 for Lodge, while three other batsmen contributed 10 runs. Bowling for East Ruimveldt Wayne Yansen had figures of 3-17 from three overs, Shemar 3-20 from three overs while Andrew Marks and Mark Sargeant grabbed two wickets each.

In the North Georgetown Zone C match-up St Mary’s whipped Brickdam Secondary at the DCC Ground by 55 runs. After winning the toss they were bowled out 121 from 32.3 overs with Dexter Marks making 44.

Meanwhile, Ryan London recorded figures of 5-33 from eight, bowling for Brickdam and he was greatly supported by Mark Jackman who took four for 19 from 5.3 overs. In Brickdam’s turn at the crease they only managed 66 in 24.3 overs with Miguel Persaud making 25.

Steven Sankar and Stephen Fredericks were the chief destroyers for St Mary’s with figures of three for 21 from eight overs and three for one from 2.3 overs. Nigel Norville supported with two for 13 from four overs.
