GCC takes first innings points on first day

At the close of play GCC were 182-4 after 40 overs with Vishal Singh unbeaten on 61 and Leon Johnson not out on 12.

Wasim Haslim had earlier made 49 and Ricardo Jadanauth 20.

Bowling for Everest Troy Gonsalves snapped up two wickets while Javed Rasheed and Amir Khan picked up one wicket apiece.

Earlier, Everest Cricket Club were bowled out for 181 from 42.2 overs with Chris Pattadin scoring an aggressive 64 that included 10 boundaries and a six.

He got support from Gonsalves who made 46 decorated with four boundaries and a six and Joseph Perry who  contributed 21.

The second day of the game will be played next Saturday. Seven other matches are scheduled to begin today around Georgetown, West Coast Demerara (WCD) and East Coast Demerara (ECD).

Busta Second Division Twenty20 Tournament

In other cricket matches around the city Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) made light work of Ace Warriors over at the MSC Ground. Ace Warriors batted first and were bowled out 65 from 16.4 overs with Dewar Douglas making 22.

Shaqueel Williams was the main wicket-taker with 3-25  while  Daniel Gravesande (2-4), Carlos La Rose (2-10) and Neil Barry Jr. (2-24) were the other wicket-takers.

MSC, in response, breezed to 66-2 from 11.4 overs with Williams making an undefeated 23 and R. Linclore, 25, not out.

Over at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ground, Vikings defeated Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) this morning by four runs.

Vikings batted first on a pitch that provided some uneven bounce and piled on 162-6 from their 20 overs with Ryan Hemraj scoring 51 and Navin Bhaul 40.

Collis Butts grabbed 4-31 from his four overs and was supported by team mate J. Fraser 2-22 from four overs. When GNIC batted only Sherwin Gibson provided any real resistance with a fighting 65 as Delwin Neblett ripped through GNIC’s batting line up which only managed 158-9 from their allotment of overs; Trevor Henry took 2-31 from four overs.

However, later in the afternoon Viking suffered a six-wicket defeat at the hands of Transport Sports Club (TSC).

A classy unbeaten 68 from TSC’s Carl Rambharose piloted his team to 124-4 from 17.5 overs after Vikings were bowled out 122.

Rambharose’s knock was embroidered with five boundaries and three huge sixes and he got good support from Rawle Enmore who was unbeaten  on 25 (2×4). Daniel-Kears Downes was the main wicket taker for Vikings with 2-22 from four overs.

When Vikings batted,  Henry and Hemraj contributed 35 and 34 runs respectively.

Azim Azeez and Imtiaz Pooran of TSC were the chief wicket takers with 4-18 from four overs and 2.14 from 3.4 overs.
