Deo dominates Digicel Golf Classic

Deo, playing off a handicap 6, recorded the best overall net score of 138. He also the lowest gross of 150 over the two days. He was dominant too with the best net score of 67 and the lowest gross of 73 on a pulsating final day, just one week before the Guyana Open championships slated for this week-end at the same venue.

Kassim Khan claimed the second position with an overall net of 139 while Lakeram Ramsundar secured the third spot.

Christine Sukhram emerged the best woman player on show with an overall net score of 147.

Other leading players on day two were Avinash Persaud (Nearest to the Pin), Mohanlall Dinanauth (Best Long Drive) and Dr. Ram Singh (Longest Putt).

Brian Hackett had claimed the first day’s best net score of 64 with Munaff Arjune capturing the lowest gross of 75 and William Walker Nearest to the Pin.

Digicel Marketing Director, Donovan Whyte, in brief remarks at the presentation ceremony, highlighted the company’s close relationship with the Lusignan Golf Club.

“We are very dedicated to working with the Lusignan Golf Club and we look forward to doing more for the development of golf in Guyana. We feel appreciated and well-received by members of the Club,” Whyte said.

Also present at the presentation ceremony were Chief Executive Officer of Digicel Guyana, Gregory Dean and other senior officials of the company who were involved in a novelty golf event.

Club Captain, Jerome Khan, expressed appreciation to all who assisted in making the tournament a success.

The tournament attracted 52 players including several overseas players who are already here for the Guyana Open.
