The deadline for taxi service operators to comply with the order to ensure their vehicles are sprayed in ‘corporate yellow’ has been extended to September following a meeting between their representative body and President Bharrat Jagdeo yesterday.

Saints open with win at NSBF jump off

By Floyd Christie After much anticipation and a brief opening ceremony the National Schools Basketball Festival (NSBF) jumped off at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall yesterday with Saint Stanislaus College grabbing the first win of the tournament over Plaisance Secondary in their under-16 contest which ended 27-22 at the final buzzer.

Ministry monitoring rising chicken prices

– import licences to be granted if prices do not drop Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce Manniram Prashad said the ministry is monitoring rising chicken prices and if there is no reduction soon it will grant licences to import chicken.

Literacy teachers not receiving stipend

Some teachers in the Ministry of Education’s Fast Track Initiative Literacy Pro-gramme are complaining about non payment of their monthly stipend, but National Coordinator of the programme, Murphy Greenidge said he instructed that payment for some teachers be withheld as they have failed to submit monthly progress reports.

According to the release, entry forms must be correctly filled, including completing the statement at the top of the form. Completed forms must be placed into the special boxes provided at service stations.  A draw will be held every three weeks to select 11 Shell Helix winners; one from each participating station who will each receive one gallon of Shell 20W-50 lubricant. Each winning entry will be returned to the box to ensure its eligibility for the grand draw set for Octo-ber 7. The promotion closes on September 30.
