Haiti evacuation effort stalls as storm closes in

CROIX-DES-BOUQUETS, Haiti,  (Reuters) – Angry  earthquake survivors in Haiti disrupted an attempted evacuation  today of a resettlement camp as Tropical Storm Tomas bore  down on the poor Caribbean country already reeling from a  cholera epidemic and destruction from the quake.

Cummings Lodge taxi driver shot in car

The police said today they are investigating an incident which occurred at about 0240h this morning at Church Street, Georgetown, during which taxi driver Tyrone Kishore, 28 years of Second Field, Cummings Lodge, ECD, was shot and injured.
