Men must participate in national week activities – Persaud

Minister of Agriculture Robert Persaud is urging all men to participate in the week of activities to mark National Men’s Week.

According to a press release from the Government Information Agency (GINA) Persaud, who is performing the duties of Prime Minister said when a man assumes his role in his family he contributes to the successful future of his children, family and country. The minister said increasingly single mothers have had to assume the sole responsibility of this role. There has also been an increase in violence against women and many men are unemployed.

In order to help combat these issues, Persaud encouraged men to join the activities including the National Leadership Summit tomorrow at the National Cultural Centre. The Summit will be held at 4.30 pm under the theme ‘Global Positioning: Guyana’s Opportunity’. Men are also urged to attend the National Men’s Rally at the National Park on Sunday. This rally will be held under the theme ‘Men as Nation Builders’ and is set to start at 4 pm.

Persaud said men must use the opportunity to meet and interact with leadership coach and spiritual leader Dr Myles Munroe as it could help them to overcome challenges and assume a strong role in the development of the nation. “All men must take some time off your busy schedule to participate in this week of activities and to encourage your friends, relatives, staff and colleagues to participate with you,” the minister said.
