GWI launches ‘Community Connect’ in Region Six

In a press release GWI said the programme is similar to last year’s Camp Resolution and will involve teams placed at strategic locations within communities countrywide to provide services normally only accessible at its commercial offices. Customers can use the opportunity to make bill enquiries and have their complaints remedied as well as make payments; apply for new service connections, report leaks and water disruptions.  They will also have an opportunity to gain a better understanding of GWI’s daily operations and become active participants in its service and conservation awareness campaign through dialogue with its officials.

GWI National Revenue Manager Earle Aaron said the company distributes more than 300 million litres of water daily and its monthly operational costs far outweigh its revenue collection. He said customers need to give the same priority to paying their water bills just as they do their telephone, electricity or internet bills and should not accumulate large arrears.

The first quarter of the programme will be conducted in East Berbice, Region Six. Teams will be stationed at  Number 63 Village at the former GWI office on Thursday from 9 am until 3 pm. At the Alness NDC office on Monday, at the New Amsterdam Bill Express office next Friday; at the Cumberland NDC office on February 22 and at the Number 71 Village former NDC building on February 25. The first session was hosted at Sisters Village at Ramatt ‘Toocoo’ Ali yesterday.
