Ruby French of East Front Road, East La Penitence entered a not guilty plea to the summary charge.
She denied that on February 20, she received from Julius Joyce a tape deck valued $75,000 and a car light and a bunch of keys valued $92,000, all being the property of Alva Campbell, knowing same to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained.
Her lawyer Adrian Thompson applied for reasonable bail for her on the grounds that his client was not present when the alleged articles mentioned in the charge were found at her home.
He also stated that his client poses no risk of flight.
However, Prosecutor Stephen Telford stated that the items were recovered on French’s bed.
He went on to say that French had admitted to the police that she had received a phone call to go to a certain place to collect the items and secure them for the person.
He made no objections to the bail application but stated that the articles mentioned in the charge were taken from a car that was hijacked after its driver had been robbed.
He also stated that French’s reputed husband is a suspect in the matter and is currently being sought by the police.
French is scheduled to make another court appearance on March 19.
Meanwhile Julius Joyce and Alisha Bishop were remanded to prison when they made a court appearance before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton charged with hijacking the car and robbing the driver of a quantity of cash besides other items.
