Alister Gonsalves, 29, was remanded to prison yesterday for allegedly threatening to kill his cousin while they were at the East La Penitence Police Station.
Gonsalves pleaded not guilty to a threatening language charge when he appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court. He denied that on March 12, at the East La Penitence Police Station, he made use of threatening language to Yolanda Hassan.
Gonsalves stated he had turned himself in to police custody at the East La Penitence Police Station, since he was wanted for an alleged break-in at Hassan’s home.
He denied breaking into Hassan’s home and explained that at the station she used a series of expletives while accusing him of being a thief.
According to Gonsalves, he never threatened to kill her.
However, Prosecutor Stephen Telford stated that Gonsalves indeed threatened Hassan because she reported the break-in at her home to the police station, which implicated him.
Gonsalves is to make another court appearance today.
