Hospital employee dies after bike crash

Dead is Mark Sinclair, a father of one who was attached to the pharmaceutical department of the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH). Speaking to this newspaper at the family’s residence at Cane View Avenue in South Ruimveldt Park yesterday, the man’s wife Ronnette Sinclair stated that her husband was on his way home on his motorcycle from a bar-b-que at Haslington on the East Coast of Demerara around 7:30 pm on Saturday when he was struck down by a vehicle. The accident occurred along the Lusignan Public Road.

According to the man’s grieving wife, who works at the GPH as a midwife, she received a phone call from her colleagues at the hospital, who informed her that her husband was involved in an accident and that he was in a serious condition.

She said when she arrived at the hospital the doctors told her that her husband sustained serious injuries to his head, and according to her, shortly after he had two seizures. She said that he was in a semi –conscious state and he last told her, ’Ronette please help me’. She said he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital and remained a patient there until his death around 3 pm yesterday.

This newspaper understands that the driver and the vehicle which was involved in the accident, PJJ 6081, are currently in custody at the Vigilance Police Station.
