GRA awards long-standing workers at 10th anniversary celebrations

Employees who had served in the Inland Revenue Department and who continued to serve at the GRA were honoured at the function hosted in the Customs Training Room, a press release from the Government Information Agency (GINA) said.

The GRA function was held under the theme ‘Building in a decade of partnership and Development’. Commissioner-General Khurshid Sattaur, Minister within the Ministry of Finance Jennifer Webster and other members of the GRA Governing Board attended the gathering.

In his address, Sattaur said he is proud of the GRA’s achievements over the past decade. He also said staff should always be recognised for their dedication and expressed appreciation for the awardees’ tireless efforts at the agency.

Meanwhile, Webster noted that employees’ performance is critically important to carrying out specific tasks. She said too all employees should be competent and equipped with the requisite skills for their tasks.

Webster said human resources are the greatest assets in a company and employee empowerment is the key element to success. She then congratulated the awardees on their achievements and thanked them on behalf of the government for their hard work, dedication and a job well done.

Additionally, Sonia Roopnauth who is a member of the GRA Board said she was delighted to be a part of the occasion. She also pointed out that it is important for the staff to recognise their importance to the GRA and that the agency’s successes are due to their dedication and integrity.

In response, Trevington Bowen, an awardee who served for over four years, said he was happy to provide quality service to customers. He also said dedicated workers are vital to any organisation.

The GRA replaced the Inland Revenue and Customs and Excise departments.
