Quacy John, 29 of Haslington, East Coast Demerara is a patient of the Georgetown Hospital, where his condition is listed as stable.
According to a police statement issued yesterday, investigations have been launched into a report that around 8:30pm on Thursday night, John was in his yard when he was shot to the back of the head.
No mention was made of the suspect in the release but this newspaper has since learnt that the man, also a resident of Haslington, remains at-large.
When Stabroek News visited John in hospital yesterday, he was surrounded by relatives. There was a bandage wrapped around his head.
The injured man was awaiting the results of a CT scan that was done to see if he suffered any serious damage. John said that he was feeling fine.
Recounting the incident, he said that he was sitting in his yard when the suspect came and shot him from a distance.
The man said that he knew the attacker who he had a “lil talking with” about a year-and-a-half ago. On that occasion, John claimed that the man threatened to kill him but he did not go to the police. He said that he does “wuk in de bush” so he didn’t worry because he was away from home a lot. He said that he returned to Haslington about two months ago and did not see the shooter until Thursday night.
John added that he does not know if the man is still in the village.
