PPP urges workers to guard against complacency

The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) said that in light of the international pressures facing the working class, Guyanese workers have a lot to celebrate but urged that they not become complacent.

In its Labour Day message, the party said that the condition of workers has been steadily improving due to the programmes launched and laws which have been passed by the administration to bring benefit to the working class. “Even though we have much to celebrate we must not be complacent,” the party said, adding that the “international situation is still difficult and we must know it can impact on us.”  Labour Day “is a time to review one’s performance, achievements and set backs,” the party added.  Further, the party envisions that the working class will gain significantly from its programmes which will be engineered towards nation building.
