Security officer charged with stealing from employer

A security officer was granted $100,000 bail when he appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson on Friday charged with committing an act of simple larceny against his employer.

Troy James, 35, of 95 Hyde Park, Timehri pleaded not guilty to the allegation that he stole $600,000 cash from Emerson Fernandes.  James was employed by Fernandes as a security officer.

The prosecutor did not object to bail and asked for the matter to be transferred to Providence.

Bail was granted and the matter put down for May 14 at Providence Magistrates Court.
