Stabbed clothing vendor recovering in HDU

The clothes vendor who was stabbed several times in his house on Monday is now recovering in the High Dependency Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital after undergoing emergency surgery.

Ryan Nicholas of 223 Laing Avenue sustained multiple stab wounds when he was attacked by a man who had also stabbed him two years ago.

According to Nicholas’ reputed wife Celeste Marshall he was stabbed almost nine times. He was stabbed in the region under his heart, his lung was punctured and a stab wound to his belly had to be operated on.

Meanwhile, the four months pregnant Marshall who was also cut on the fingers during the incident is recovering.

She said Nicholas was on a life support machine.

On Monday around midday, Marshall said, she and her husband had returned home where an argument ensued between her husband and the attacker who she named. She said that as they entered the house after the argument the man, “run in my mother house and start stabbing he [Nicholas] and threaten fuh kill he.”

The attacker had turned on her but a cousin intervened and as Marshall concentrated on getting her husband to the hospital, the attacker escaped.

Marshall had told this newspaper that her husband and their attacker were once friends but they had a falling out. In November of 2008, the same man had stabbed her husband with an ice pick. Marshall and her husband are clothing vendors.
