The body of a man was found in the Symth Street drain at the side of the Brickdam Police Station yesterday morning.
There were no marks of violence on the body, which was up to press time last evening still unidentified.
According to reports, around 7.45 am the dead body was spotted in the weed-filled drain by passersby and the police were immediately notified. The body was later taken to the Lyken Funeral Home, where it awaits identification and a post-mortem examination.
Police said last evening that the man, who appeared to be between 60 and 70 years, was clad in blue long pants and a cream shirt. Anyone with information that may lead to the identification of the deceased is asked to contact the police on telephone numbers 225-6411, 225-6941, 226-7065, 227-2128, 225-2227, 911 or the nearest police station.
