Korner Kick owner injured in robbery

The proprietor of Korner Kick Restaurant was shot during an armed robbery at his business premises, early yesterday morning.

Terry Gittens, 37, is now a patient of the Georgetown Hospital having sustained a bullet graze just above his knee.

Police said in a press release that an investigation has been launched into an armed robbery which occurred around 0330 hours at the Bent and Lime streets location during which Gittens was attacked and robbed.

Investigations have so far revealed that the businessman was closing up his shop when two masked men approached him and held him at gunpoint. They then took away his gold chain and an undisclosed sum of cash. During this time, Gittens, the release added resisted and was shot in his left knee by the bandits who escaped, discharging rounds as they did so.

Gittens was taken to the Georgetown Hospital for medical attention, the release said.

When this newspaper visited the medical institution, yesterday afternoon, the businessman was relaxing on his hospital bed. There was a small bandage just above his knee where the bullet grazed. Gittens told this newspaper that his injury was not serious and that he did not want to comment on the incident.

Up to press time last evening, police were still looking for the perpetrators.
