Bourne, who was allegedly found with over 4 kgs of cannabis on Saturday, pleaded not guilty.

Police Prosecutor Inspector Satrohan Dayaram told the court that on the day in question a police mobile patrol was in the Angoy’s Avenue Cow Dam area when they noticed Bourne acting in a suspicious manner. As the patrol got closer, he changed course and subsequently made a dash for it. The police gave chase and he was apprehended a short distance away with a haversack on his back. The bag was searched and was found to contain three parcels with what was suspected to be leaves, seeds and stems of the marijuana plant.

Bourne was arrested and taken to the station where the contents were weighed and they totalled 4 kgs.

He was subsequently charged. His next court date is July 26.
