Reports of any nature can now be lodged by phone with police

The police yesterday said that a recent decision has been taken by the force’s administration that allows them to take reports of all types via the telephone.

“Previously, when dealing with reports of a serious nature members of the public were advised to go personally to a police station before the report can be taken,” the release explained.

Meanwhile, the police force said that two of its four 911 lines are not working and it is advising members of the public who may be experiencing difficulties to call the following numbers 227-1611, 227-1149, 227-1270, 225-6940 to 43.

The two faulty lines are affecting incoming calls to the 911 system, a release said, but went on to assure that all efforts are being made to resolve the issue.

There have been numerous complaints in the past from members of the public about difficulties getting on to 911.
