Magistrate Ann McLennan fined a 37-year-old woman $80,000 for four traffic offences and remanded her and her co-accused to prison for trafficking in narcotics.

Shondell Patrice, a mother of nine who resides at the Wisroc Tabernacle Centre, was charged with driving motor car PEE 3379 along the Winifred Gaskin Highway on June 12 while being an unlicensed driver.

Further, the car was found to be uncertified, unlicensed and uninsured. Patrice was fined $20, 000 for being an unlicensed driver, $20, 000 for driving a car without the certificate of fitness being enforced and $40, 000 because the vehicle was uninsured. In her defence the woman told the court that she was innocent of the charges and that at the said time she was a passenger in the vehicle.

At her second appearance in court Patrice and Adam Prince were further remanded to prison for trafficking in narcotics. It was alleged that on June 12 the duo had 200 grammes of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking. They were ordered to appear in court on August 18.
