Jagdeo, South Korea team discuss areas for investment

President Bharrat Jagdeo recently met a delegation comprising various public and private sector agencies from the Republic of Korea to discuss potential areas for investment.

Director General of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs Bureau in Korea’s Foreign Affairs and Trade Ministry Choo Jonh Youn told the Government Information Agency (GINA) that he sees lots of room for future cooperation and believes that prospects lie in the mining, fisheries and agriculture sectors. “We have to study a little more and analyse information that we have received,” he added. Jagdeo had met Korean investors while in Seoul for the Business for the Environ-ment (B4E) summit. The President told the investors, including Korea Importers Association (KOIMA) Chairman Lee Ju-tae that the country would welcome its participation in the development of national projects to boost mutual cooperation between the two countries. He said too Guyana is prepared to welcome foreign businesses that invest in the development of resource mining and entrepreneurship. Jagdeo also referred to oil drilling plans by international oil companies.
