Remanded for alleged theft of washing machine motor

A man accused of stealing a washing machine motor was yesterday remanded to prison when he appeared before Magistrate Alan Wilson at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

It is alleged that on August, 10 at Georgetown, Evan Edwards aka Evan Rose stole a washing machine motor valued $30,000, which was the property of Odell Sears.  Edwards pleaded not guilty to the charge of simple larceny when it was read to him by the magistrate. The defendant told the court that he never stole the motor. “I din tek the item,” Edwards said.

He then on his own behalf made an application for reasonable bail. The police prosecutor, however, objected to the bail application on the grounds that he (the defendant) had similar pending charges before acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson. Edwards was later remanded to prison. He was ordered to return to Court 10 on August 19.
