A man accused of breaking into a house and stealing a quantity of items therein was yesterday remanded to prison.

It is alleged that on August 23 at Bartica, Carl Paul broke into the dwelling house of Shenieza Jankey and stole a laptop computer and a cellular phone, valued $172,000 in total. The items belonged to Shenieza Jankey.

Paul was not required to plead to the indictable charge of break and enter and larceny when it was read to him by the Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

The prosecutor made a request that the accused be remanded to prison and the unrepresented Paul was later ordered to return to court on September 29.

Meanwhile, Trevor Rolland was also remanded by Magistrate Octive-Hamilton, on a charge that he broke into a store and stole a quantity of clothing.

The allegation is that on August 23 at Georgetown, Rolland broke and entered the shop of Irene Small and stole clothing valued in total at $58,800.

Rolland was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge of robbery under arms when it was read to him by the magistrate. The magistrate granted the request and Rolland was subsequently remanded to prison.  He was ordered to return to court on September 9 for reports.
