Documentary on Walter Rodney on at Theatre Guild

A documentary on the life of the late Guyanese scholar and activist Dr Walter Rodney will be screened at the Theatre Guild Playhouse on Saturday.

The film, titled W.A.R. Stories: Walter Anthony Rodney covers the life of the noted activist from his birth during World War II through the cold war, his contributions to political thought and his assassination at age 38 in Georgetown.

According to a press release Rodney was born to a working class family and attended Queen’s College before securing a scholarship to the University of the West Indies in Jamaica. He graduated in 1963 and went on to earn his PhD in 1966 at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, England.

The 90-minute film will be screened at 6.30 pm.
