Hansraj Samaroo was yesterday remanded to prison when he appeared in court over the murder of miner, Deochand Sirkissoon at Belmont, Mahaica.
Samaroo appeared at the Mahaicony Magistrate’s Court and was not required to plead to the capital offence. He will return to court on November 11.
Sirkissoon was killed during a drinking spree on Saturday last. He was slashed in the throat with a broken Vodka bottle.
He reportedly gave his attacker items to sell and was asking for his money shortly before he was killed. The two men were friends and drinking buddies.
