Cabinet clears Craig revetment contract

According to a Government Information Agency (GINA) press release a contract valued $35.8M was cleared in the security sector for the construction of a munitions bunker for the Guyana Defence Force at Camp Groomes on the Linden Highway.

This was the scene of a major explosion at a similar bunker several years ago.

In the public works sector, a $64.8M contract was given the green light for the construction of a Greenheart revetment at Craig. The village has suffered repeatedly from flooding.

Also, no objections were noted for the installation of street lights valued over $70M in three areas in Corentyne, Region Six. Lights will be installed on the Corentyne Highway from Palmyra Bridge to New Amsterdam to the value of $17.4M; from Fyrish Village to Tain Village, to the value of $26.3M and from Number 74 Village to Crabwood Creek, costing $28.03M.

In the Housing and Water sector emergency works will be executed on the main access bridge in the Parfait Harmonie Housing Scheme to the value of $80M.
