Leila King to head new consulate in Boa Vista

Minister of Foreign Affairs Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett has announced that later this year a General Consulate in Boa Vista, Brazil will  become operational and businesswoman Leila King will be appointed as the country’s Consul General to Brazil.

The minister said the decision was made following approval from Brazilian authorities. King, who has been residing in Boa Vista for over 20 years, will be formally appointed next year, Rodriques-Birkett said.

Rodriques-Birkett also announced that on October 15, Brazil approved 16 more products that would be allowed to enter that country duty free under the under the Guyana-Brazil Partial Scope Agreement. These includes flour, rum and pharmaceuticals, the minister said.
