Nappi, Kangaruma get production, transportation boost

The Ministry of Amerindian Affairs on Monday presented a tractor, trailer and plough/chipper and other machines to Region Nine representatives to help boost agricultural production.

According to a Government Information Agency (GINA) press release Minister Pauline Sukhai    presented the machine to Toshao of Nappi, Region Nine Rudolph Joseph at the ministry’s office. He also received, on behalf of the Community Health Workers, a motorbike.

In her presentation Sukhai said agriculture is one of the major economic activities in Amerindian communities and the machine was to help propel its growth. She said too that Nappi and its satellite communities should prepare a schedule so that all the communities could benefit equally.

Sukhai also presented an engine to Senior Councillor of Kangaruma, Region Seven Alfred Joseph. She said Kangaruma is a riverain community and the engine will help to boost transportation for residents.
