A fire of unknown origin this afternoon reduced two houses at June Street, Golden Grove, East Coast Demerara to ashes.
Sixteen persons including several children are now homeless as a result of the blaze which started in the middle bedroom of one of the houses sometime after 2 pm..
By the time a fire tender, which was dispatched from Georgetown, arrived on the scene, the buildings had already been destroyed.
