Three children in hospital after accident with GDF vehicle

Three children are nursing injuries in the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) after the bus that was transporting them from school was involved in an accident with a Guyana Defence Force (GDF) vehicle yesterday afternoon.

Yesterday, the GDF said that it is investigating the circumstances surrounding an accident involving one of its vehicles and a bus transporting 11 school children in the vicinity of Pearl, East Bank Demerara shortly before 4 pm.

The bus was transporting children of the St Mary’s Primary School, which is situated at Soesdyke. According to the release from the GDF, all of the 11 children were taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre for treatment. Three were transferred to the GPH; the others were treated and sent away.

“The force expresses regret for the incident and is prepared, through its Welfare Department, to render the necessary assistance to the affected children,” the release added.
