Mocha woman in hit and run succumbs

The 60-year-old Mocha woman who was hit down on November 9 as she was crossing at Camp Road and Barrack Street passed away on Tuesday night in the Intensive Care Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital, a source at the hospital confirmed today.

Grethel Lewis, of Mocha, East Bank Demerara was rushed to the hospital and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Lewis did not regain consciousness.

The hit and run during which Lewis was injured occurred some time before 11.25 am.

Reports reaching the hospital, according to the release, said that the woman was at the pedestrian crossing when she was hit by the vehicle.
