No.60 couple robbed, two men held

The police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred about1830h yesterday at No. 60 Village, Corentyne, during which Thakur Dyal Ramphal and his wife Drupattie Ramphal were attacked and robbed by two men who were armed with a handgun and cutlasses.

A police release said that investigations revealed that the victims were about to leave their home when they were confronted by the men who held them up and took away a quantity of  jewellery, US$400 and $15,000 and escaped.

During the incident Thakur Ramphal was assaulted about his body by the perpetrators.

Two men have been arrested and are in police custody assisting with the investigations.
