Procurement website hacked

The government procurement website www.eprocure.gov.gy is currently down after being hacked, Press and Publicity Officer at the Office of the President Kwame McCoy says.

Contacted today, McCoy said that the procurement website is the latest of several government websites that have been hacked.  He said that the website went down earlier this week.  This week the government’s website promoting the Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS) also went down while recently the website of the Government Information Agency (GINA) was also hacked. He was unable to say when the websites will be back up but stated that work is being done to have them up and running shortly.

The procurement website was set up in August to host all government ads and notices following the passage of an amendment to the Procurement Act in the National Assembly. Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr Roger Luncheon later said that the move was a cost-effective measure being implemented by the administration.
