Gunmen today made off with a quantity of jewellery after robbing a family at Gangaram Settlement, East Canje, Berbice.
The police say three men, two of whom had firearms, attacked housewife Shabana Khan, her reputed husband Bharrat Puran and pensioner Gladys Khan around 1.15 am at their home after breaking in through louvre windows.
During the robbery, the armed men discharged a round while in the house which struck the roof and another in the yard while escaping. No one was injured, the force said.
