Gunmen raid Windsor Forest home

Gunmen invaded a Windsor Forest, West Coast Demerara household on Tuesday night and after holding the occupants hostage for three hours, escaped with a quantity of gold jewellery and local and foreign currency.

Police said in a press release that the armed robbery occurred around 2100 hours during which Premchand Basdeo, his wife Mohanieram Basdeo and sister Kussilla Ramdial were attacked and robbed by three men, all armed with handguns.

Investigations revealed that Ramdial went to an outside toilet when she was confronted by the armed men who held her at gun point and took her back into the house. The house is owned by Premchand Basdeo.

Basdeo and his wife were also held at gunpoint the release said and US$711 (equivalent to $142,200 Guyana currency) two cell phones and a quantity of gold jewellery.

One of the bandits took Ramdial to her house which is on the same premises and took away two cell phones and $168,000 Guyana currency after which they escaped.

Police are continuing investigations into the incident.
