The body of a woman thus far unidentified was picked up on East Street close to the corner of New Market Street yesterday.
It was not immediately clear what caused the woman’s death and police are investigating. A resident said that she had observed the body lying on the verge of the road next to a bushy lot since about midday yesterday. She noted that the woman had earlier been chased from the side of the building at the corner of East and New Market streets.
The body was not picked up until after 5pm. Up to last evening, a police source said that the body was not identified. The body was taken to the Lyken’s Funeral Home.
