Miner drowns; toppled out of boat after drinking

A miner yesterday drowned after he fell out of a boat in the Wakapoa River as he was heading home after having holiday drinks with friends.

Carl Murray, 27, of Wakapoa fell out of a speed boat around 5.30 pm yesterday and disappeared. Reports are that he had left Charity, on the Essequibo Coast to head home when the incident occurred.

Murray, according to relatives, had recently returned from the interior and was having drinks with friends before he entered the boat.

Following the incident a search party was formed by his family and his body was later retrieved in the same river around 8.30 pm. Murray this newspaper learnt got married earlier this year.
