Bus tout charged with snatching woman’s cell phone

A minibus tout accused of stealing a woman’s cellular phone was yesterday placed on $30,000 bail when he appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

It is alleged that on December 17, at Georgetown, Ethan George stole a cell phone valued $45,000, from the person of Similla Sipana.

The accused, who resides at Lot 9-10 Rosemary Lane, Tiger Bay, pleaded not guilty to a charge of larceny from the person when it was read to him.

The prosecution had no objection to the accused being granted his pre-trial liberty.
