Timehri woman remanded on ganja charge

Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry remanded to prison a Timehri woman accused of having 516 grams of cannabis in her possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The Georgetown Magistrate’s Court heard that Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) officers allegedly found the substance in 20-year-old Nabiola Cox’s home on Monday. The cosmetology student of Alliance Road, Timehri denied the charge when it was read to her.

Special CANU prosecutor Oswald Massiah told the court that acting on a tip-off CANU officers conducted the search and found the narcotic. Cox was ordered to appear in the Providence Magistrate’s Court on January 3.
