Trio accused of stealing gambling chips

Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on Monday granted $200,000 bail each to three men accused of stealing 70 chips worth $1.4M from the Princess Hotel and Casino.

It is alleged that between December 1 and 16, Vijay Ramroop, 23, of 27 Diamond, Shauwayne Isaacs, 18, of Providence and Deodat Rampersaud stole the said items valued $1.4M or US$100 each.

The men denied the charge of simple larceny when it was read to them at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

The prosecution did not object to bail for the trio but requested that it be set at a substantial sum.

They were then ordered to return to court on December 29.
