The police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at about 3 pm yesterday, at Big Creek, Port Kaituma, NWD, during which miner Reval Wong, 25 years, was attacked and robbed by two men, one of whom was armed with a handgun.
Police today said that investigations revealed that Wong was walking along a trail at Port Kaituma when he was attacked by the two men who held him up. He resisted and was shot to the palm of his right hand. The men then took away a pennyweight of raw gold and escaped.
Wong was treated at the Port Kaituma Hospital and sent away.
