Ras Leon Saul head of new Rastafari Council

Ras Leon Saul is the new President of the Guyana Rastafari Council, a release from the group said yesterday.

The group held its Annual General Meeting on December 19th at the F.E. Pollard Primary School in David Street, Kitty at which a new executive was elected to run the affairs of the council.

Aside from Saul, the newly-elected members are Vice-President, Sister Nicole Cole; General Secretary, Ras Ian; Assistant Secretary, Ras Simeon; Treasurer, Ras Jerome Roberts and Assistant Treasurer, Ras Wainright.

With the new executive in place, the release said that the council on December 24 took up its position as Chair of the All African Guyanese Council and will be holding the first activity on its calendar for the International Year for People of African Descent on December 31 from 5 pm at the Square of the Revolution.
