Murder rate continues to escalate

(The Dominican) – Dominica is reeling from the news of yet another murder in the country. Dead is 38 year-old Rumadine “Didin” Carbon of Pichelin who was stabbed to death in his home on Thursday evening.

Police say they have arrested and charged a young man from the village Dave Imran George, aka D-Bone with the murder.

Carbon’s death comes just six days after Harrison Williams was murdered by his brothers in Pte Michel and just nine days after the slaying of Clement James in Portsmouth.

A week before Clement was killed, three people died including two young girls who were murdered by their mother and Omara Smalls who was shot execution style in Roseau.

The latest killing brings to eleven the number of people murdered in Dominica so far for 2010, just two shy of the record thirteen that took place in 2009.
