Teacher gets two years for indecent assault on student

Lynsdale Renville was charged in 2006 with indecently assaulting the then 10-year-old girl. According to the facts on the matter, on January 24, 2006 he assaulted the girl at De Willem, West Coast Demerara. He had denied the charge and was placed on $75 000 bail. Renville was a teacher at the school where the girl was a student. Following the report, he was arrested and charged.

Following a trial, Magistrate Fazil Azeez at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrates’ court yesterday found him guilty of the charge and sentenced him to two years imprisonment. Renville was represented by attorney Basil Williams.
