Charity miner crushed to death in accident

A miner of Charity, Essequibo Coast met his demise on Tuesday, following an accident at a mining site in the Cuyuni backdam.

According to reports, Leon Jack, 33, was working in a mining operation in the Oko Backdam in the Region 7 area when tragedy struck. Reports are, part of a sluice box close to where Jack was working broke into pieces and fell on the man, crushing him under its weight.

He was brought out of the interior location on a truck and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Bartica Hospital on Tuesday evening. The man’s body is currently at the Lyken’s Funeral home.
