Ex-Arau headmaster, three others remanded on separate sex charges

The ex-headmaster of an Arau school and three others appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday charged separately with having carnal knowledge of underage girls, and  were all remanded to prison.

Kingsley George, 23, of Kato Village, Upper Mazaruni, is alleged to have had carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of 15 years old.

Blasin Lewis, 45, who was the headmaster of  Arau Primary School, Upper Mazaruni, allegedly  on May 10 had carnal knowledge of a nine-year- old student at the school.

A  fifteen-year-old boy is alleged to have had carnal knowledge of an 11-year-old girl on May 29 at Arau, Upper Mazaruni, Region Seven.

Cothbert Joseph, 24, of Aishalton Village was charged with sexually molesting a girl and her sister in 2009.  It is alleged that one of the girls became pregnant  and a report was made when the baby was born.

The men were not required to plead when the charges were read to them by the magistrate.

They were subsequently remanded to prison. Joseph will make his next court appearance at the Lethem Magistrate’s Court on September 7, while the matters against the other three accused will resume on September 13 at the Kamarang Magistrate’s Court.
